Το νησί μας
Η νήσος Σχοινούσα υπάγεται Διοικητικά στον Νομό Κυκλάδων. Έχει έκταση 9 τετραγωνικά Χιλιόμετρα και μόνιμο πληθυσμό περί τους 250 κατοίκους.
Η ονομασία Σχοινούσα απαντάται σε έγγραφα της μονής Χοζοβιώτισσας της Αμοργού, του δεκάτου πέμπτου αιώνα. Σε παλιούς ναυτικούς χάρτες του δεκάτου ογδόου αιώνα, που υπάρχουν στο ναυτικό μουσείο της Ύδρας, το νησί αναφέρεται ως S.Quinoze πιθανό όνομα Ενετού στρατιωτικού διοικητή.
Σε πολλά έντυπα αναφέρεται και ως Εχινούσα.
